The Final Whistle

What are the highlights of your school year? The shows, school trips, and of course the football matches! Filled with intensity, competition and of course the enjoyment of winning. The football tournaments are not an event to be missed: hard work, teamwork and ambition – the three ingredients needed for success on a day like the 8th June 2017. Read on for what happened on 8th June 2017 and find out what it feels like to embrace the feeling of what it feels like to lift a trophy like Chelsea.

Annually held all over Camden and Islington, our football games couldn’t have been so spectacular without the help of John, Louise and her son Daniel. As well as the intense group stage, every boy and girl played at least one game for over 5 minutes. As we approached the final, my hands began to tremble as if they were a volcano but I did not want to get too excited because I would lose focus and then we would lose. As Daniel, who is in year six, took his penalty, I turned around because I thought he was going to miss … The scream of my teammates echoed in my ears, turning around, I noticed he had scored. I ran over to him and jumped on him.

As I got into my position, up front with Remy, I could not help but say, “come on ref.” I regretted that. The referee put the whistle to his mouth. I was ready. He blew the Whistle. Game on. The excitement got to me at half time because of Remy’s goal and my assist. The hopeful ball dashed down the lush green grass. Out of the blue, the defender darted down the line and crashed the ball out of play. In my head, I was screaming we have won repeatedly. That was it. The final whistle went I jumped up in celebration almost forgetting to shake the other team’s hands. We all huddled together shouting, “champions!” We lifted the trophy together and we felt like Chelsea. I hope there will be many like it.
