Special visitors – buildings workshop

This week Year 2 had two special visitors to do a workshop on buildings. Lucky for us, one of the visitors was also a parent from 2H.

Tomris Tangaz is the Course Leader in interior design at Chelsea College of Art, and her friend Grace Adam is a Senior Lecturer in Fine art, both at Chelsea Collage. (So we were in very capable hands!)  Together we looked at some of the famous buildings around London and then found out about many more unusual buildings around the world. The children learnt about scale of buildings, and they were amazed to see how the Shard compared to skyscrapers in other countries.

Next they enjoyed a ‘body building’ activity, where they had to work as a team to create a building using themselves. They loved this activity and having to put in doors and windows really stretched their imagination.

Following from this the children developed their drawing skills, learning about shade and texture.

Thank you to all involved, it was an excellent morning!
