#GOGREENFORGRENFELL

What happened at Grenfell Tower? A lot of people don’t know so I am going to write about it…

On Tuesday 14th June, a terrible fire spread through the Grenfell Tower destroying people’s homes and many lives, including children and entire families who innocently lost their lives. It scarred West London and brought anger to the hearts of many people. It also shocked the Brilliant Brecknock community, so we have organised a Dress Down Day this Friday to raise money for the survivors of the fire.

The Queen and Prince William went to comfort those affected and spoke to those who were on the frontline and worked hard to put out the fire. There were mountains of donated food and clothes, it came to the point where they stopped taking donations because there was so much!

I went down to the area and witnessed both the terrible sadness and the amazing community spirit. I saw posters for the missing, worried faces and volunteers distributing donations. I was truly shocked and saddened by how many people and children have lost their lives and are missing but I was also touched by the reaction and spirit of the local people and everyone else who had come to help and pay their respects.
