Year 3 Explore Kew

We didn’t allow the wet weather to dampen our spirits as we went exploring Kew Gardens. Today, we put on our science caps and used our senses to discover the benefits the rainforest offers to humans. Not only does it absorb all that carbon dioxide but it also provides foods, medicine and shelter. We concluded that indigenous people in the rainforest have some needs similar to ours, yet they get by in extraordinary ways.

We took a look inside the greenhouse which had plants and trees from parts of Africa and South America. We tasted raw chocolate. Although it was bitter, most of the children asked for more!

A special thanks to Emily, Anna, and Hiyaw’s mums for coming along and helping us out!
