Programming Week – Circuit Building with ‘Technology Will Save Us’

Programming week has been about getting the children to actively take part in creating technology and thinking about what’s under the hood – not just being end users of technology. Today we had a visit from Hackney Based ‘Technology Will Save Us’. They worked with one of our year 6 classes to build an electronic musical instrument. The children were given a bag of components and shown how to use a soldering iron and off they went! It was loads of fun and the children learnt about light dependent resistors and how a piece of electronic equipment goes together from component level. It was a great experience for them and we discovered many of the children were natural born solderers! A career in electronic engineering for some perhaps?
