Hungry Caterpillars Arrive In Mersea Class

We have been reading the story of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and yesterday we had a very special delivery of ten very tiny but hungry caterpillars.

We were so excited that we spent time observing the caterpillars using magnifying glasses so we could see them as they are so small. We then discussed what would happen to the caterpillars once they eat their food. We all know that they will become butterflies, but how? In the story of the very hungry caterpillar, the caterpillar grew so big it stopped eating and built a small house called a cocoon around himself which he stayed in for more then two weeks before he nibbled a hole in the cocoon and was a beautiful butterfly.

So we have decided to keep the caterpillars and see what happens, so keep checking the website for more updates.
