Exploring 2D shapes

This week nursery have been looking at 2d shapes. We looked at circles, squares, triangles and rectangles.

We were able to count the sides and corners correctly. It was fascinating to learn that we could change these shapes by using scissors! Charlotte discovered that if we cut a circle in half it became 2 semi circles and when we cut the rectangle into two we then had 2 squares. We were so excited by our discoveries that we covered the carpet with lots of pieces of paper and everyone wanted to either cut the shapes we already had or cut their own shapes. So many people wanted to take part that we ran out of scissors!

Look at us with our shapes. Eden, Iman, Eliza, Oliva and Maryam cut out triangles. Julia and Katelyn cut out Rectangles. Great shape identification and wonderful scissor work!
