Can you believe my family are leaving me?!

This week, as part of debate week Year 6 were exploring the idea of sailing around the world – #sumatrasquad were against the motion.

Watch the videos below to see the children’s speech.

Plator as Michael himself –

Zoe as Michael’s teacher –

Tanima as Michael’s grandmother –

Read Jake’s  short account as Michael’s grandmother below:

I’m Michael’s grandmother – my family are leaving me to go on a two year sailing trip on some boat called the ‘Peggy Sue’, (I mean, what kind of name is that?) Every right thinking person would not leave their grandma behind while they go on a two year trip.

Firstly, on the news somebody got washed away on the beach from a colossal wave, that persons life was gone … just like that. If anything happens I’m not going to help them out because they are not letting me go. I bet Michael does not want to go but he has to because of his dad is telling him to go.

Secondly, I might get worried. There’s a number of reasons why they should not go: the boat could sink and they would die and then I will not be happy because my grandson is going to not be there for me. My daughter will die too because of that horrible man taking them.

Finally, Michael’s education is much more important than going sailing – his teacher is going to be very angry. My point is they should not go sailing, for the sake of their family, their safety and Michael’s education!
