Air Resistance!

Year 5 have been learning about AIR RESISTANCE!

Last week, they planned an experiment to test the affects of air resistance. In groups of three they designed different parachutes, they were interested to see whether size, material or shape would change the speed of their parachutes. The aim was to create a parachute that would drift slowly through the air. After they planned and designed their parachutes, they took them to the air!

As a class, we decided that the bigger parachutes were best as they created more air resistance. We also agreed that plastic was better than cardboard as it was more flexible.

The children of Year 5 are thoroughly enjoying their science lessons!
