Brecknock is committed to providing a high-quality value on development of communication and language in learning. We place recognise talk as a powerful tool in the learning process for collaborating and developing advocacy.
Our teachers work collectively with Torriano, which is a Voice 21 Oracy Centre of Excellence. Together we have embedded explicit and purposeful oracy teaching to support children’s oral skills in learning which can be transformational for pupils’ learning and life chances.
Our specialism is in oracy in Mathematics
The school is working in collaboration with NCETM and Voice 21 to share expert knowledge on the use of high-quality talk in mathematics. Our Local Leader of Mathematical Education – Naomi Cave and Beth Worlock (Maths Lead at Torriano), provide training locally and regionally.
