We’re a UNICEF Rights Respecting School – Level 2

We found out today that we have been awarded the Level 2 Grading by UNICEF and their Rights Respecting School Programme. This has been a long journey in moulding all aspects of school life around the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Teachers, parents, children and our fantastic Amabassadors have worked very hard over the last few years culminating in our assessment inspection just before the summer break.

We are now one of the few school to have achieved the highest level and we could not be prouder of everyone. This does not mean the work stops of course. We will continue to put the UNCRC at the heart of everything we do. The events that have become part of our annual calendar will continue, such as our termly debate days, and we are in the process of recruiting new ambassadors to replace the year 6 children who left last year and for any ambassadors whose 2 year term of office is up.

While Sue had the original vision to turn thinking around at Brecknock and embrace the Rights Respecting School ethos, the day to day drive behind it hasa been from Laura in her role and PSHE and Citizenship co-ordinator. A huge thank you must go to her for the tireless hard work and organisation this required and will contiue to require to be maintained.

We’ll keep you up to date with any new events and intitatives as they happen.
