School Journey- Day 3

Day three update from School Journey and it’s typically full! Two groups enjoyed an early morning walk in the North Downs, taking in the beautiful scenery and learning a bit about the local history along the way. The now legendary dash up the hill was won by Charlotte, perhaps unsurprisingly given her cross-country and swimming prowess, but it was Marwan who grabbed the headlines after he rolled back down (collecting a lot of dirt on the way!). The other group braved the low ropes, balancing along a thin wire, jumping over high nets and get early trying to to avoid touching the floor. A bit of tree climbing follow d as well as some scrambling under trees and branches – a change of clothes was needed!

This afternoon, children were abseiling, ‘like sitting on a chair of death’, and playing Thunder Stack, ‘a game of balance, trust and best of all, danger!’ The other group took on the Survival Challenge, which involved the children becoming ‘a combo of Jamie Oliver and Bear Grylls’. They made bread on the fire and then constructed some quite fantastic shelters. Please check the Brecknock Twitter account for photos!

Currently, we are gearing up for the camp fire. Hopefully the ‘bear’ from last night won’t make another appearance!
