“She dreamt of a crown, brighter than the sun itself…”

Year 2 have moved on to a new text – The Princess and the White Bear King.  Last week, we made many predictions about the illustrations, and had a guess at who the main characters were and what they wanted.

Having read the first few pages, we have discovered that the mysterious golden crown in the picture was actually part of the princess’s dream!  The text describes the crown as being, “brighter than the sun itself.”  We thought this description was beautiful and inspiring, so decided to make our own crowns!  Later, we wrote letters to the ‘king’ in the story – imploring him to take our crowns!  What a fascinating story!
